Grade 7/8 (formerly U14)
Grouping: Separate programs for boys and girls in 7th and 8th grade who generally are 12 to 13 years old as of August 31st of the fall season
Duration:
  • 8 weeks per season
  • Fall programs run from September to November and Spring programs run from April to June
League: This is a travel program in the Nashoba Valley Youth Soccer League (NVYSL) including many surrounding cities and towns where HYSA places players on teams based on individual skill level and HYSA and NVYSL place teams in NVYSL divisions based on overall team skill level
Schedule:
  • 1 age group specific group practice per week on an assigned age group specific weekday
  • 1 team practice per week on a volunteer parent coach selected day
  • 1 skills clinic per week on an assigned, age group specific weekday
  • Weekly home or away games on Saturday afternoons at 2:30 PM (girls) and 4:00 PM (boys)

Timing:
  • Group practices run for 1.5 hours on assigned weekdays
  • Team practices run for 1.5 hours on team practice days
  • Skills clinics run for 1.5 hours on assigned weekdays
  • Weekly games run for about 1.5 hours on Saturday mornings (two 35 minute halves plus halftime)
Games: Format is 11V11 with 8 FT x 24 FT goals, size 5 ball, regulation field, and regulation game rules
Practices:
  • The first half of both group and team weekly practices will focus on skills and the second half will focus on small-sided games
  • Revolution Academy coaches will begin each group practice with a group-wide demonstration of the weekly theme and will work with volunteer parent coaches during group practices to support players practicing the skills during the training and small-sided games portions of practices
  • Volunteer parent coaches build upon Revolution Academy weekly themes at weekly team practices
Skills Training: On the assigned weekday each week during the season, Revolution Academy coaches will run separate, age group specific skills training for boys and girls to further develop player individual and team skills
Location: Upper Sauta field (group and team practices); Brook Street field (skills clinics and home games); and fields per NVYSL website (away games)
Equipment:
  • All players must purchase a Hudson Youth Soccer uniform including shirt, shorts, and socks
  • All players must wear their Hudson Youth Soccer uniform to small-sided games each week
  • All players must bring a size 3 ball
  • All players must wear cleats or sneakers (cleats are not required but are recommended)
  • All players must wear shin guards and soccer socks (socks must be worn over shin guards)
  • All players should bring a water bottle
  • Players cannot wear earrings, hats, hooded sweatshirts, jewelry, or other metal on their person
