Grade 1/2 (formerly U8)
Grouping: Separate sessions for boys and girls in 1st and 2nd grade who generally are 6 to 7 years old as of August 31st of the fall season
Duration:
  • 8 weeks per season
  • Fall programs run from September to November and Spring programs run from April to June
League: This is a non-travel, in-town program with the exception of possible jamborees with nearby towns
Schedule:
  • 1 age group specific group practice per week on an assigned age group specific weekday
  • 1 skills clinic per week on an assigned, age group specific weekday
  • Small-sided games on Saturday mornings

Timing:
  • Group practices run for 50 minutes on assigned weekdays
  • Skills clinics run for 50 minutes on assigned weekdays
  • Small-sided games run for about 1 hour on Saturday mornings (four 12 minute quarters plus breaks)
Games: Format is 4V4 with 4 FT x 6 FT goals, size 3 ball, no goalies, and Revolution Academy coaches and volunteer parent coaches facilitating the games
Practices:
  • The first half of group weekly practices will focus on training and the second half will focus on small-sided games
  • Revolution Academy coaches begin each group practice with a group-wide demonstration of the weekly theme and will work with volunteer parent coaches during group practices to support players practicing the skills during the training and small-sided games portions of practices
  • Revolution Academy coaches and volunteer parent coaches build upon Revolution Academy weekly themes at weekly scrimmages
Skills Training: On the assigned weekday each week during the season, Revolution Academy coaches will run separate, age group specific skills training for boys and girls to further develop player individual and team skills

Equipment:
  • All players must purchase a Hudson Youth Soccer uniform including shirt, shorts, and socks
  • All players must wear their Hudson Youth Soccer uniform to small-sided games each week
  • All players must bring a size 3 ball
  • All players must wear cleats or sneakers (cleats are not required but are recommended)
  • All players must wear shin guards and soccer socks (socks must be worn over shin guards)
  • All players should bring a water bottle
  • Players cannot wear earrings, hats, hooded sweatshirts, jewelry, or other metal on their person
